Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a layout error in Guide PDFs caused by non-ASCII text copied from other documents and pasted into Dozuki.
  • Fixed an error where creating a new category with a space in its name required you to type the name twice.
  • The site will now correctly display a 404 error page when trying to view the history of a guide that doesn't exist.
  • The site will now correctly display a 404 error page when trying to view a Team Report about a guide that doesn't exist.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing /Answers/Categories to show an empty list on some sites.
  • Fixed an error when recovering passwords on OpenID accounts.
  • Fixed a bug that was preventing email invitations from going out when inviting an un-registered email address to join a team.
  • Fixed a Firefox-only layout bug.
  • Closed a XSS vulnerability.
  • Fixed a bug where URLs with special characters in them (e.g. Wikis, Guides, Categories or Teams with %, $, or ! in the name) would turn into an infinite redirect loop, making the page unusable.

Optimizations

  • Finished a 3 week overhaul of all front-end pages.
    • Every page now loads 5-15% faster than before!
  • Added explanation text to the site logo upload feature.
  • Re-ordered the privilege list that you choose from when inviting new users to the site so that User is the default invite, instead of Admin.
  • Removed a deprecated slideshow view of Guides and Category content.

What way do you recommend to send people links to PDF guides?

Comments:

Good question - For most purposes, a link to the URL where the PDF is hosted is good enough. In cases where the guide is changing often though, and it's important that the person have the most up-to-date version of the PDF, you should use the link that forces our system to generate a new version of the PDF (when needed), like this: http://www.ifixit.com/GuidePDF/link/176/... Note: This second link will force our system to generate a new PDF if necessary, and then forward you on to the first link.
