Introduction

By following the following steps, you will be able to prepare the machine for production, start-up the process to conduct production trials or experiments, and shut down the process when finished.

Follow these steps to prepare and operate the Engel eMotion 440/110 injection molding machine.

Turn on the main power by rotating the main disconnect lever to the "on" position.

Turn on power to the control by rotating the "Control Voltage" button clockwise.

Turn on Cylinder Heating - rotate switch clockwise.  The lamp will glow when turned on.  Check set points and actual temperatures by depressing the heats icon in the upper portion of the control panel. Turn on Cylinder Heating - rotate switch clockwise. Turn on "Motor" by rotating the button clockwise and releasing it.  There may be a delay of a few seconds before the lamp glows. CAUTION: Do not attempt to move or rotate the screw until the cylinder heats have reached the appropriate set point and have been allowed to stabilize for 15-20 minutes.

Push the "Heats" button on the control panel to observe the actual cylinder temperatures as compared to the set points.  Allow a minimum of 30 minutes for temperatures to stabilize at the set point prior to performing any movement to the screw.   • 2. Check shot size to ensure that it is not set extremely high or low.

  • Check the switchover position to ensure that it is set at a position well away from forward, approximately at 1 to 1.5 inches, depending on shot size.

  • Check to ensure that hold pressure and time are either turned off or at low settings.

  • These things are done to prevent flashing or over filling of the mold. This is when damage is likely to occur if too much material is injected into the mold too fast or with excessive pressure.
