I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2008 with a degree in Business Administration concentrating in both Information Systems and Accounting. After this, I spent a year involved with religious / humanitarian efforts in Mexico City, Mexico.
During which I was both at work on the ground with the staff as well as employing my IS degree through the setup and maintenance of several web presences and collaborative tools for the organization's efforts. While down in Mexico, a couple friends who were with me and I decided that the needs of orphans in Mexico was too great to ignore. So, we started a 501c3 non-profit and called it Enfoque Ciudad (City Focus). The organization has grown to a staff of 7 people now and we plan to enter into the construction phase of our own orphanage in early 2012! Visit enfoqueciudad.org for more on that.
A year later, I returned to Califonia to marry my, then, girlfriend of a few years and to begin to look for a starting place for my career. I found a good opportunity as a software developer at a Vandenberg Air Force based location of InDyne, a government contractor. For over a year I worked on several initiatives to use software to make the base operations function seamlessly. Classic ASP and .Net web development, VB.Net and C#.Net desktop and mobile applications, PKI integrations, and extensive deluges into Oracle and VMWare products marked some of my experience with InDyne.
From there I came to my current position as Market Development Manager at iFixit.com. My part-time college position has come full circle and I thoroughly enjoy the startup culture and my coworkers here. We are launching many new services and products so for now and into the foreseeable future its... hustle, hustle, hustle.

Answer to "What external editor do you like to use?"I think most power users have just gotten accustomed to the wiki syntax we support (although, it's not a standardized syntax per se). The idea of creating a new language file for Atom sounds like a potentially interesting route to go down. I should mention that we are currently developing better interface controls that'll remove the need to work with the syntax in favor of a better, GUI-based approach.

Answer to "Transfer Ownership of ITEMs/ Guides... (Also, default API ownership)."As of right now, we do not offer the ability to transfer ownership of a wiki (this includes ITEMS). However, as a quick workaround, you can use your system API credentials to impersonate any user on the site. This would allow you to create the ITEM page and have a specific user (other than the system account) be the author of that ITEM page.

Answer to "Guide List by Tags (feature request/ suggestion?)"Hey Filip - excellent feedback here. We've heard this a few times and I think we're leaning towards the first option. I think we'll definitely make the "guide tile" treatment as optional.
-
Answer to "Duplicating guides, inlining, titling..."Hi Filip - Yes, the API is definitely the best option at this point for an efficient way to create a clone of an existing guide (while keeping the existing prerequisite guide structure intact in the new guide). I think we may be able to help create some example scripts to make this easier for you if you're running into this need consistently. We're also looking to make a more robust guide duplication tool in the future - but it's not yet on the roadmap. Cheers, Eric

Answer to "pdf Custom CSS - howto make all images same size?"Not sure if this will be satisfactory - but this seems like a reasonable presentation to me: [code]

Answer to "page-break-before:always breaks the pdf?"Looks like you'll have to max out your .stepImages elements width (which, in turn, will limit their corresponding heights) at 401px in order to fit three images on the same page. There are a ton of page-break-inside and page-break-after rules which makes the exact logic hard to follow. If you're really interested in squeezing every little pixel of height out of your images maybe try multiple columns as I think the issue is your .stepText rules are kicking in and thereby causing some of those page-break rules which is in turn causing your step title to get bumped up to the previous page.

Answer to "Time Estimate: disassembly or disassembly/reassembly"Hi @efuss - I think you're referrring to an instance of Dozuki's software (in this case, iFixit.com). In that case, I'd suggest you repost this question in their Meta forums: https://meta.ifixit.com/ That is another Dozuki Answers site focused exclusively on user experience issues (like yours) for iFixit.com.

Answer to "Category A-Z header for filtering"Hi @bryanwares, This is a great suggestion! We're considering how we can tie in our newly launched sidebar (example: https://gunnerautomotive.dozuki.com/Wiki...) with this request. Thanks for your patience as we puzzle this one out and thank you for your feedback! We'll update this thread as we have more details to share, but please know your participation in this forum helps us actively refine the product roadmap. Cheers, Eric Dozuki, VP of Operations

Answer to "Arranging categories into 2 columns in Responsive view/design"iFixit has a custom html page (in that example screenshot) so it's not a very apples-to-apples comparison. However, you can accomplish your desired look via custom css. Here's an example of what I got by modifying the existing styles: Updated CSS: [code]

Answer to "guide type listing in mobile app"Hi Bryan, We currently don't have such a feature in either of our mobile apps (either iOS or Android) - however, I think we can definitely add this to our growing list of feature requests for those platforms. Additionally, I should point out that Dozuki is pretty darn responsive. So, go ahead and navigate to a category on any Dozuki site (say, iFixit.com for example): https://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Pr... There you'll be able to get your neatly, sectioned-off segments of guides on a mobile device!
