Why won't my file play?

I am trying to upload a 14 sec long .mov file to a guide step. I can upload in media manager and place onto the step, followed by saving the release. when i try to play the video, nothing happens and the displayed video is 0.00 seconds long. I tried converting the file to .mp4 and also resizing it down too but neither helped. Has this been experienced before?
