Guidebook supports required procedural processes (dependencies) through the use of our '''Prerequisites''' feature.
If you have a starting-point process that is required before performing multiple end-goal processes, Prerequisites is a really handy tool. For example:
To do Process A, you must follow these steps in order: X then Y.
To do Process B, you must follow these steps in order: X then Z.
However, you probably do not want to write the guide for X twice. Here is where Prerequisites come in handy!
=== Example ===
[http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Front-Facing-Camera/3146/1#s15394|Installing iPhone 4 Front Facing Camera] is a 21-step guide, but the actual steps related to removing the Front Facing Camera is really only '''2 steps of original content''' (Steps 20-21)!
This guide actually relies on '''3 Prerequisite guides''':
* [http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Rear-Panel/3140/1|Rear Panel] (Steps 1-3)
* [http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Battery/3141/1|Battery] (Steps 4-6)
* [http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Logic-Board/3143/1|Logic Board] (Steps 7-19)
Each of these are separately authored guides. By utilizing Prerequisites, they can be added to multiple guides to showcase process dependency chains.
=== How to use Prerequisites ===
# On your new guide, click '''Optional Details'''
# Here you have the option to fill in the list of any Prerequisite guides
# Type them into the fields in sequential order
