I have several guides that need an identical step added to each. Is there a way to add a step to multiple guides without having to edit each individual guide?

You can create a Prerequisite guide and insert it into as many guides as you want. Here is the link to the Dozuki's guides on Prerequisites. Link to Prerequisite Information
I use prerequisites extensively. I create a guide for each process and combine them in one Container Guide (there's information on container guides in the same link above).
